Introduction to Encaustics

Sandra brings a hands-on approach to teaching in this introductory-level workshop. This workshop covers a brief history of encaustic, equipment needed, setting up your workspace, mixing colors, adding media, and of course safety. Additional techniques will include collage, image transfer, and combining oil with wax. Everything you need to start creating with encaustic is included. Hands-on work time will enable participants to create up to three panels. Feel free to bring your own materials to add to the mix too! No experience necessary! Under 18 must be accompanied by a registered adult.

Cancelation Policy: Refunds will be given up to one week prior to the beginning of the workshop. After this time, your workshop fee is non-refundable. WheatonArts reserves the right to cancel a workshop due to minimal enrollment. If cancellation occurs, WheatonArts will refund all workshop fees. A $25.00 fee will be charged to those who do not show up for their appointment. We require 24 hours’ notice to cancel an appointment; otherwise, it will be considered a no-show, except in the case of illness. Are you feeling unwell or showing symptoms of COVID-19? COVID NOTE: *Following New Jersey State’s definition, people are considered “fully vaccinated” for COVID-19 two weeks or more after they have received the second dose in a two-dose series or two weeks or more after they have received a single-dose vaccine and any booster doses for which they are eligible as recommended by the CDC. Vaccines must be currently authorized for emergency use or approved by the FDA or the WHO. Class participants will be required to show proof of vaccination to participate. Instructors will be wearing masks. Participants are strongly encouraged to wear masks as well; however not required.
