Description

Pink Lady Slipper Bowl by Paul J. Stankard. This miniature bowl features a pink lady slipper with leaves on a Cobalt Blue Ground. It also features engravings on the side of the bowl by Max Erlacher. Dated with two dates, 1972 when Paul made the bowl, and 2012 when Max Erlacher did the engraving. It measures approximately 3 1/8″ diameter x 3 1/8″ high.

Paul states:

“My wife Pat has been insisting that I start clearing out the studio. Pat’s main concern is if anything happens to me she will have no idea what to do with all the STUFF as she calls it. I’m not planning to go bye-bye any time soon but have stepped up getting rid of unused stuff over the last 6 months. I want to please Pat but I find it emotionally difficult to wind down.

A few weeks ago, I opened a box packed with encapsulating tools from the early seventies and remembered the struggles in the beginning. It was a bitter sweet moment. While looking into the box, the thought of revisiting floral designs based on the spirit of the work from my past was very appealing.

Above are a few examples of work that brings me joy.

And so, it goes.”
