Description
Dove Gray Leaf and Vine Ceramic Luminary
by Phyllis Seidner
Intricately detailed in a swirling leaf and vine pattern, this ceramic luminary measuring 8.5″ tall with a 3″ base is at home inside or outside, both day and evening. Designed to accommodate a tealight or a small string of battery operated lights, the cut leaves cast enchanting shadows in the dark. If preferred, the piece can be hung from its looping tendril.
Phyllis grew up in South Jersey and still lives locally with her husband. She studied pottery at the Clay College of Rowan College South Jersey and, after taking some classes with Terry Plasket, began working at WheatonArts. Phyllis has been an Associate Potter since 2006 and worked briefly in 2022 as Resident Assistant. She became the Craft Studio Manager in June 2022 and continues to teach pottery workshops at WheatonArts.
Known for her face jugs, carving, and cut work, she makes functional and decorative work using stoneware, porcelain, and local clays, which are then high-fired in one of three kilns-reduction, salt, and wood kilns-at WheatonArts. Her work is for sale at area craft shows and in the WheatonArts Museum Stores. Her work has been exhibited in many juried shows and sales, both locally and nationally, and she often donates her work to causes she supports.
You can keep up to date on her work on her Facebook (Phyllis Seidner Pottery) and Instagram (@phyllisseidnerpottery) pages.
