This full-day workshop, led by Anna Kuczynski, will provide you with a comprehensive introduction to encaustic painting! Learn about all aspects of the process including heating of the wax, adding pigments, and manipulating the wax on encaustic boards. Anna will discuss how to embed elements into the wax. All elements will be provided. Anna will also discuss and demonstrate a finishing technique called “shellac burn.” However, due to the advanced nature of the shellac burn, we will not be practicing this technique in class. You will be supplied with two boards. One will be an experimental board for you to practice your encaustic skills. The other will be for your final composition. All materials are included in the class and are covered by your class fee.
