But for artist Jason McDonald the workshops of the Venetian lagoon\, particularly in the 16th century\, produced some of the finest glass the world has ever known. Join Jason McDonald as he introduces the basics of this working style as understood from an American studio perspective. \nThis two-day workshop will cover the first steps in blowing thin-footed vessels. DESCRIPTION:Painting is a beautiful way to express our perception of the world around us. This class will focus on learning the techniques of capturing the representational world in order to morph them and have others see their vision by working with the familiar to the unfamiliar\, then combining the two. There will be two projects that encourage exploration of the different paint mediums- acrylic\, gouache\, and watercolor. One project will be due the second week of the session\, and the other on the fourth. DESCRIPTION:A strong foundation is key to developing thoughtful and technically refined pieces when glass blowing in the hot shop. This workshop will emphasize the importance of building positive habits and solid hand skills. This course will emphasize individual attention and instruction divided between demonstrations and supervised work time. Ceramic Artist Phyllis Seidner-Vesely will guide you through the process of carving and embellishing your own luminary to add to your collection of handmade home decor. Appointments can be rescheduled by phone or email. \nCOVID NOTE: Due to the close physical proximity of students and instructors\, students in hot glass and pottery classes will need to show proof of vaccination. Following New Jersey State’s definition\, people are considered “fully vaccinated” for COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the second dose in a two-dose series or two weeks after receiving a single-dose vaccine\, and any booster doses for which they are eligible as recommended by the CDC. Instructors and students are also strongly encouraged to wear masks; however\, it is not required.
