SUMMARY:Introduction to Pysanky: Pumpkin Pysanky
DESCRIPTION:Just in time for Fall! Turn an ordinary brown chicken eggshell into an adorable Jack-O-Lantern decoration. Explore the art\, symbolism\, and joy in writing Pysanky – Ukrainian Decorated Eggs. Students will learn the age-old method of applying hot beeswax to an emptied chicken egg using a special tool and then dipping the egg in a dye bath. These steps are repeated to create patterns and symbols. When the process is completed\, the wax is melted off over a candle flame\, revealing the hidden colors and designs.  (Designs may vary). This pysanka\, or Ukrainian Easter egg can then be displayed on a stand or hung as an ornament. \n  \nAll materials\, supplies\, and instruction will be provided to complete one or two eggs. \nThursday Instruction: October 19\nClass Duration: 3 Hours \nTime:  11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. \nLocation: Education Studio \nAges: 12 and above \nClass Limit: 6 to 10 \nClass Fee: $65 \nInstructor: Basia Andrusko \nPrerequisite: None \nRegistration Closing: October 15 \n\nSeats are limited and booked on a first-come\, first-reserve basis. A $25 fee is charged to those who do not show up for their appointment.
