Class time will be divided between demonstrations and supervised work time. This course is designed for students with no experience or very minimal knowledge of glassblowing skills. DESCRIPTION:In this two-day glassblowing intensive\, students will begin with the basics and learn to safely work in a hot shop with molten glass. An experienced instructor will guide students as they learn to gather from the furnace\, use hand tools\, and create solid and blown forms in clear glass. Day one will be packed with demonstrations\, active learning\, and hands-on instruction. Students will practice by making marbles and “caterpillars” and will create a clear paperweight with a funky bubble design. By the end of the first day\, students will learn to inflate glass\, making a blown air plant terrarium. Day two will focus more on blown forms. With guidance\, students will create a salt cellar or candy bowl\, and a small clear bud vase. By the end of the weekend\, students will have a solid base to build upon hot glass skills. \n  \nStudents must wear closed-toe shoes and be ready for active participation\, safety glasses will be provided by the studio\, and all students are expected to stay for the duration of both class days. DESCRIPTION:We all have to start somewhere! This course will introduce students to beginning glassblowing techniques and proper studio safety practices. Students will learn to gather glass\, learn about the proper usage of glassblowing tools\, how to create basic shapes and glass-blown forms\, and how to work in a team setting. Class time will be divided between demonstrations and supervised work time. This course is designed for students with no experience or very minimal knowledge of glassblowing skills.
