DESCRIPTION:WheatonArts is open late on two special Wednesdays this summer! Experience the grounds with creative activities designed for the entire family from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Highlights include a glass mask design contest in the Glass Studio\, glassmaking demonstrations by Alexander Rosenberg\, a Community Mural Squares art project\, a book signing with author Lorraine Haddock\, free family art activities such as garden rock painting and ceramic mosaics\, newspaper basket weaving\, fee-based glass fusing projects\, a campus-wide scavenger hunt\, live music\, and more!\nWheaton Wednesday dates are FREE to the public\, part of “WheatonArts Family Days! Presented by PNC Arts Alive!”\n\nArrive no later than 7 p.m.\n\nFor free admission year-round\, guest passes\, and special discounts\, consider a WheatonArts Membership. Membership must be purchased in a separate transaction (in a separate cart.)

SUMMARY:Introduction to Glassblowing
DESCRIPTION:We all have to start somewhere! This course will introduce students to beginning glass blowing techniques and proper studio safety practices. Students will learn to gather glass\, learn about the proper usage of glassblowing tools\, how to create basic shapes and glass-blown forms\, and how to work in a team setting. Class time will be divided between demonstrations and supervised work time. This course is designed for students with no experience or very minimal knowledge of glassblowing skills. No previous classes are required for this course. \n*Registration includes access to Student Open Blow on Friday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. during the run time of the class. \nJuly 19 to August 23\, Wednesdays\, 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. \nFriday Student Open Blow (optional): July 21 to August 25\, 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. \nClass Duration: 6 sessions\, 15 hours total \nLocation: Glass Studio \nAges: 16 & above \nClass Limit: 4 to 10 people \nClass Fee: $375 \nInstructor:  \nPrerequisite: None \nRegistration Closing: July 5 \nAll registrants for Glassblowing workshops must be fully vaccinated* against COVID-19 to participate. \n  \n\nSeats are limited and booked on a first-come\, first-reserve basis. Besides an auto-generated email receipt\, you will receive a confirmation email from the Director of Education and Artist Services\, Pamela Weichmann. After this time\, workshop fees are non-refundable. WheatonArts reserves the right to cancel a workshop due to minimum enrollment. If cancellation occurs\, WheatonArts will refund all workshop fees. A $25 fee is charged to those who do not show up for their appointment. We require 24 hours’ notice to cancel an appointment; otherwise\, it will be considered a no-show\, except in the case of illness. Are you feeling unwell or showing symptoms of COVID-19? Please stay home. Appointments can be rescheduled by phone or email. \n*COVID NOTE: Due to the close physical proximity of students and instructors\, students in hot glass and pottery classes will need to show proof of vaccination. Following New Jersey State’s definition\, people are considered “fully vaccinated” for COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the second dose in a two-dose series or two weeks after receiving a single-dose vaccine\, and any booster doses for which they are eligible as recommended by the CDC. Instructors and students are also strongly encouraged to wear masks; however\, it is not required.
