SUMMARY:Introduction to Solid Sculpting
DESCRIPTION:In this weekend hot glass intensive students will learn the fundamentals of sculpting hot glass gathered out of the furnace. This workshop will offer a step-by-step approach to creating complex forms out of solid glass. Students will learn to apply color and shape the material with specialized hand tools while developing unique designs based on their newly acquired hand skills. \nOctober 29 & 30\, Saturday and Sunday\, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. \nClass Duration: 2 sessions\, 16 hours total \nLocation: Glass Studio \nAges: 16 & above \nClass Limit: 4 to 10 people \nClass Fee: $480 \nInstructor: Theo Brooks \nPrerequisite: Advanced-Beginner \nRegistration Closing: October 15 \n  \n\nSeats are limited and booked on a first-come\, first reserve basis. Besides an auto-generated email receipt\, you will receive a confirmation email from the Director of Education and Artist Services\, Pamela Weichmann. WheatonArts reserves the right to cancel a workshop due to minimal enrollment. If cancellation occurs\, WheatonArts will refund all workshop fees. A $25.00 fee will be charged to those who do not show up for their appointment. We require 24 hours’ notice to cancel an appointment; otherwise\, it will be considered a no-show\, except in the case of illness. Are you feeling unwell or showing symptoms of COVID-19? Appointments can be rescheduled by phone or email.  \nCOVID NOTE: *Following New Jersey State’s definition\, people are considered “fully vaccinated” for COVID-19 two weeks or more after they have received the second dose in a two-dose series or two weeks or more after they have received a single-dose vaccine and any booster doses for which they are eligible as recommended by the CDC. Vaccines must be currently authorized for emergency use or approved by the FDA or the WHO. Class participants will be required to show proof of vaccination to participate. Instructors will be wearing masks. Participants are strongly encouraged to wear masks as well; however not required.

DESCRIPTION:WheatonArts is open from 11 AM to 4 PM\, Thursday through Sunday. \nA General Admission ticket is needed to visit the Museum of American Glass\, Down Jersey Folklife Center\, and Artist Studios. The grounds\, including the Nature Trail and Museum Stores\, will remain walk-in (non-ticket) accessible for those coming exclusively to shop or stroll. \nPlease arrive no later than 3 PM. \n\nFor free admission year-round\, guest passes\, and special discounts\, consider a WheatonArts Membership. Membership must be purchased in a separate transaction (in a separate cart.)
