WheatonArts Lilypad Vase in Blue

Approximately 8.5″ tall

Beginning in 1739 in South Jersey, glassworkers in bottle and window glass factories were permitted to make items on their own time, often at the end of the day.
This tableware, made for family and friends, was fashioned in the glass available, then decorated with threading and tooled embellishments.
The Lilypad, consisting of applied, curved ornamentation, is the most recognized decoration of the period and is referred to as “The South Jersey Tradition”

Today in the WheatonArts Glass Studio these distinctive shapes are still created by hand. As with the original Lilypad vases, each is unique and may vary slightly from the pictured item in height or color.
